(see the update at the bottom of this posting for new info!)
The press release for the new Decemberists album came through the fax right as I was leaving work. I'm assuming it's ok to post since it is a press release. I've noticed that there are a few changes to the list. For instance, 16 Military Wives, is really titled 16 by 32, and The Mariner's Revenge is just titled The Mariner. Pitchfork will probably post all of this up soon, and everyone will probably get all their info from them, but I will take a little pleasure in knowing that I posted it first. Booya bitches (I'm just kidding, they're alright). Anyway here's the updated track listing:
Picaresque by the Decemberists
1. The Infanta
2. We Both Go Down Togethre
3. Eli, The Barrowboy
4. The Sporting Life
5. Espionage
6. Lost At Sea
7. 16 by 32
8. Engine Driver
9. Bus Mall
10. The Mariner
11. Angels
Two definitions of PICARESQUE, from dictionary.com

n.
One that is picaresque.
[French, from Spanish picaresco, from pícaro, picaro. See picaro.]
adj :
involving clever rogues or adventurers especially as in a type of fiction; "picaresque novels"; "waifs of the picaresque tradition"; "a picaresque hero"
UPDATE: pffft. I wasn't going to post any songs up just to be fair, but somebody already leaked two tracks! A lot of traffic today is coming from people doing google searches for the band and mp3's...sorry kids, no decemberists mp3's here. If you want them, ya gotta find them on your own. So much for suspense.
UPDATE II: See you leak the album and you get bitch slapped by Colin! tsk tsk
That said, leaking a promo of a record that does not come out for another three and a half months is not so cool. We spend a lot of time prepping for the release of a record -- we have a lot of folks working very hard to make sure the record gets a proper release at the scheduled time. It'd be nice to think that we have enough control over our art to keep our records veiled until we see fit to unveil them.
Also here's a corrected tracklisting, apparently the earlier press releases were wrong.
1. The Infanta
2. We Both Go Down Together
3. The Sporting Life
4. Eli, The Barrow Boy
5. The Bagman's Gambit
6. From My Own True Love (Lost at Sea)
7. Sixteen Military Wives
8. The Engine Driver
9. On the Bus Mall
10. The Mariner's Revenge Song
11. Of Angels and Angles

I am a huge decemberists fan that just to happened to come across this entry. This entry made me swoon! Thank you! Smiles :)
